ART CLASSES I TEACH OR HAVE TAUGHT and/or  CREATED THE CURRICULUM FOR:

DP Art (IB Diploma Program):
Visual arts continually open up new possibilities and challenge traditional boundaries. This is evident both in the way we make art and in the way we understand what artists from around the world do.
Theory and practice in visual arts are dynamic and ever-changing, and connect manyareas of study and human experience through individual and collaborative production and interpretation.
The Diploma Programme visual arts course enables students to engage in both practical exploration and artistic production, and in independent contextual, visual and critical investigation. The course is designed to enable students to study visual arts in higher education and also welcomes those students who seek life enrichment through visual arts.

IGCSE Art and Design:
The Cambridge IGCSE Art and Design syllabus aims to encourage a personal response by stimulating imagination, sensitivity, conceptual thinking, powers of observation and analytical ability. Learners gain confidence and enthusiasm as they develop technical skills in two and three dimensional form and composition, and are able to identify and solve problems in visual and tactile forms. They also learn how to develop ideas from initial attempts to final solutions. An ideal foundation for further study, Cambridge IGCSE Art and Design also develops a greater awareness of the role played by the visual arts in society and in history, broadening cultural horizons and individual experience.

Middle School Art
Class is by year or grade level.  Middle Art builds on students skills each year though Drawing, Color Theory, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Printmaking  I teach artist and art history throughout the year to allow for students to understand art appreciation. Students begin the process of learning to see and think at higher cognitive levels allowing for more conceptual thought processes in their artwork.

AP (Advanced Placement) Drawing, 2D and 3D:
This is a college level course where students are given honors/AP credit. They complete a portfolio with 12 Concentration Pieces and 12 Breathe Pieces to send in for review by the College Board and scored. This is an intense class for students wanting to attend art school or pursue art as a career.

PYP (IB Primary Years Program):
The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) is a curriculum framework designed for students aged 3 to 12. It focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside.
It is defined by six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, explored using knowledge and skills derived from six subject areas, with a powerful emphasis on inquiry-based learning.

High School Art 1: 9-12th grade - Ages 14-18:
This class is all levels and learning abilities in one class. This is normally a class required to graduate and is the prerequisite to taking all other art classes. Art 1 is a Introduction to Art class. My curriculum covers Drawing, Color Theory, Painting, Design. Sculpture, Printmaking and Mixed Media. I teach Art 1 Art History once a week for 40 minutes (lecture with note taking starting Chronologically and ending in Contemporary).

Digital Photography:
Photography was my minor in University. I have started a Digital Art program at my prior school, teaching Digital Photo. It is a class that uses MacBooks and Aperture to learn basic photo skills to develop students understanding of composition and  various photo techniques. The next semester students will begin to use Photoshop to build on their photo and art skills.

Advanced Drawing and Paintings:
This is a 2D class to learn more in depth techniques using a variety of materials. The student’s work is done from observation or from photographs to
strengthen technical abilities.

Sculpture 2:
Introduction to Sculpture and 3D Art Techniques. Students create 3D art using a wide variety of mediums. Sculpture requires a higher level of critical thinking that challenges the 2D artist and gives an outlet for students who like to create outside of Drawing/Painting.

Sculpture 3/4:

Advanced level of 3D where students focus on techniques that they are most interested and successful in. It is one of the most rigorous art classes I have taught, due to sculpture being an art form that not only uses the the skill and creativity of a 2D artist, but challenges students to have skills that allow math and logic in order to understand how to make sculptures stand, have interesting negative space or be kinetic or motorised.
