                                                                    Future Fashion
Every artist has his or her own style to follow in order to produce artworks that represent the artist’s signature. When I started IB Art, I didn’t have my own style and didn’t know what I was interested in. However, as time passed by, I started to realize that sparkling and light-reflecting objects are my main source of inspiration. I then began to research and eventually found my theme, which is called, Future Fashion. In my opinion, future fashion doesn’t necessarily need to be only about clothes and accessories. More than that, I produce artworks about humans and the trends that maybe followed by people in the future.  Some keywords that somehow express my idea are: eerie, strange, cold, fierce, abstract and sparkling.
When one looks at my collection, one would see that I don’t have a specific style. I produce not only 2D artwork (with canvas and acrylics) but also 3Ds such as fashion design or sculpture. In each artwork, I took inspiration from a different artist.  For artworks that I focused on sparkles and light reflections, I referred to Chloe fashion house, or just simply architecture while in artworks that have cold tone, Oleg Dou was the artist who inspired me. For the artworks that portray eeriness and coldness, I only used solid and cold colors in order to create the sense of space and alien to the audience.
As I’m a student at an international school, I have a wide-ranged knowledge as well as perspectives. I’m inspired by the surroundings or anything that I feel unique, for example, European decoration (from Chloe fashion style) or Vietnamese culture (the “non la”). When one looks at my collection, one would see variety of culture and identities
For the fashion design, I want to demonstrate a new trend and style that people in the future would use. I focus much on the sparkles as well as silver tone. The weirdness and eeriness will be shown through my designs as well as the materials that I used as decoration. For the 2D artwork such as digital photography and painting on canvas, I want to show the figures of the human in the future. It’s an evolution, or disorders of humans? Yes, I want to demonstrate both of these issues. People may become powerful when they have their other half is robot. Or some people just become aliens because they over practice cosmetic surgery and such. Despite the certain meanings created by artist, myself, the audience can make their own understandings. My artworks can give the viewer a sense of perception, emotion as well as intuition. As I take TOK into account, audiences can use different ways to gain various knowledge as well as meanings. I think this would provoke the curiosity in every person.
After I finished completing my collection, I found out that I’m good at designing fashion, which requires precision. Besides, I found out that I’m good at painting skin tone, which I made really vividly and naturally. In addition, I think I practiced really well on using variety of materials to apply on my artwork such as gilding gold on canvas and etc. I was surprised with what I have done. I attained lots of experiences through the project. Before working on the collection, I was unable to sketch or even use acrylic paint to create texture. I eventually know that skills and techniques can totally be gained by observation and practices. I would, in the future, continue to work and inspire in order to create artworks that have not only good techniques but also meaningful messages.

Tittle: Alien
Medium: acrylic on canvas
Size 50cm x 40cm
Intention: My final idea is to portrait an alien with abnormal look. She will be painted in white, her lips are purple and her eyes would look like demon’s. I will be using dark brown, orange and red to emphasize her eyes part because I think that the eyes are things that would best show the emotions of the subject

Tittle: Super Human
Medium: digital photography
Size: 40cm x 25cm
Intention: My idea is that, in the future, humans will combine with technology and form another type of human being (evolution of human). Humans will also have supernatural power, which would help us to do things that normal humans cannot do (Telekinesis). I want to use the galaxy theme because it would make my artwork look magical and sparkling. The galaxy theme brings the sense of dreaming about the future.

Tittle: UFO
Medium: plastic, foil, paper, recycled materials and fabric
Size: Top: 31x28cm, Skirt: 65x50cm
Intention: For my final artwork, I am going to create an A-shaped dress and a crop top with re-used nylon bags, silver foil and cupcake holders. My idea is that in the future; human will be more practical as they strongly promote recycling as well as reusing old materials. In addition to the environmental protection promotion, I also want to update the fashion style for the future.

Tittle: The Maiden Warrior
Medium: Plastic, foil, fabric
Intention: For the final artwork, I am going to make a long dress that takes the inspiration from architecture (bridges) and the patterns of Roman cuirass (shown by the diagonal lines on the top). Also, I want to convey a fashion trend for the future. As we move toward the future, the fashion will be easier. People wouldn’t have prejudices on what should we wear. That’s why I made this artwork by transparent materials.

Tittle: LULILADA
Medium: Straw hat, plaster, cardboard, newspaper and acrylic
Size: 40x20cm
Intention: The Vietnamese traditional hat was my main source of inspiration. I use plaster to apply on the hat’s surface. Then I use newspaper to create the shape of a dead tree. I also decorated the hat with lots of butterflies with gold and silver on them. My idea is that in the future, we environment will be destroyed gradually. Trees and butterflies become fossils and we are just looking at the past. On the other hand, I also want to make a new style for fashion. We can use butterflies to create texture as well as ornaments for our accessories.

Tittle: Life’s Pursuit
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Size: 35cm x 45cm
Intention: The meaning is that humans want to follow an unrealistic entity and appetency. They just want to become and look like that creature. But, in fact, the creature doesn’t exist and it’s only a deciduous image.

Title: Simplicity
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Size: 35cm x 45cm
Intention: This painting is a very different one compared to my other paintings. This painting doesn’t have lots of complicated techniques or skills such as skin tone. In the other hand, this artwork focuses on the simplicity. I used very basic elements of art to produce this painting. I used lines, values and shapes. The main object is a model whose posing is very modern and fierce. In addition, the object seems to be either a guy or a girl. I just want to show the trend of the people in the future, which is unisex.
